Welcome Home!
The Observatory
This idyllically positioned East Hopkins home is a charming Victorian, just two blocks from Ajax. Originally built in 1889 by the founder of the Aspen Times newspaper, the Observatory is a historic Aspen landmark.
In 2002, it won the Colorado Award for Remodeling Excellence, combining its whimsical Victorian nature with state-of-the-art amenities and appliances along with a collection of over 50 pieces of renowned art, representing many of the artists who have shown works at the Aspen Art Museum, the Anderson Ranch Art Center in Snowmass, the Baldwin Gallery, and museums across the country. The pièce de résistance is the copper dome observatory and telescope on the rooftop, installed by a former owner as a gift to her stargazing son.
A gourmet kitchen is perfect for hosting large groups, and the quirky media room is the perfect place to relax after a long day on the mountain. A modern and beautiful outdoor patio with an al fresco dining area and hot tub are ideal for gathering with friends and family no matter the season. And a heated two-car garage and the ability to walk to the slopes or Aspen’s famed restaurants complete this home.
